Basic Die Casting

What is die casting?
Die casting is one kind of metal casting process that uses a mold of high strength alloys and apply high pressure to molten alloys. The process is similar to injection molding. Die casting materials are normally iron-free, such as Zn, Al, Mg, Pb and Sn. Diecasting machines can be categorized into hot-chamber and cold chamber.
Applications of die casting
The die casting process provides stable quality and high efficiency; therefore, there is a wide range of applications. Commonly used in industries such as automobile, electronic parts, medical, watches, household & bathroom hardware, and many more. Many leading brands of mentioned industries choose SIMHOPE products and services for their production.
Advantages of die casting
With precise control on pressure, speed, temperature and other parameters die casting process allows mass production with great quality and efficiency. SIMHOPE die-casting machines adopts high strength steel and selected high-end components for electrical control to ensure reliable performance and brings the advantages of die casting to our clients.
Cold chamber and hot chamber die-casting machines
For a hot chamber die casting machine, the furnace is attached to the machine, while the furnace is separate from the machine in a cold chamber machine. A hot chamber machine is suitable for low melting-point alloys, such as Zn and Mg, while a cold chamber machine is normally applied for high melting-point alloys, such as Al.
Wide rang applications of Zinc Die Casting
Here are some features of Zinc die casting:
1. Low melting point which makes zinc alloys easier to be formed than other alloys.
2. High fluidity of zinc alloys which allows complex shape forming.

3. Requiring fewer post-processes and hence reduce production cost.
4. Easy to apply surface treatment, including plating and spraying. It often replaces copper alloys because of its high-quality appearance.
The importance of locking-force
During the die casting process, the locking force ensures the mold is safely closed. A precise locking force guarantees not only the quality of final parts, most important, but it also prevents high-temperature alloys splash out, and hence guarantee safety during the production. SIMHOPE provides various selections on locking force from 25 tons to 350 tons.
The importance of temperature control
Stable and precise temperature control is extremely crucial. The temperature has a direct influence on the fluidity of molten alloys. Either too low or too high on fluidity will damage the quality of die casting parts. SIMHOPE selects well-known brands for key components, moreover, a heat preservation system is applied on complete runners to provides the best temperature control.
Is die casting process safe?
During the die casting process, the alloys are in high-temperature liquidized status, and therefore, there are risks. In addition to the precise locking force, the full-covered design of SIMHOPE machines assure the highest level of safety is delivered. Meanwhile, multi safety sensors are installed and shut down machines immediately when they must. SIMHOPE put the safety of front-line operators first.
Earth-friendly production
The die casting process generates nearly no waste on materials because it allows using of recycled alloys. Moreover, SIMHOPE provides a 100% electric heating system. For earth-friendly production, SIMHOPE and our clients are continuously contributing.
